A Drawing

Hello Bloggers! Well it has been a while. I am working on opening up shop again. There is so much to be done. First, dust off printers. Second, insert ink. Third, install all needed software on laptop that was lost! O.k. that doesn't count setting up the whole office/art studio space so that its functional. It is overwhelming, but its what I love to do. I have been trying to deny my creativity b/c I want to try and contribute a steady supplemental income for my family, but.....it aint worth doing if it makes me unhappy! Plus, I think Etsy is a great place to provide just what we need. I will be doing what I love and this time I intend to put 110% in it. Meanwhile, I have done a new painting and some drawings. Drawing is so much more convenient for me to accomplish. Sketchpad, pen, and baby in playroom. I will post the painting later, but for now here is a drawing I finished. SOOOO GOOD TO BE BACK!

Mommie and Lucy Sky

Hello everybody! Yes, I am still alive. I know its been a while, but you have no idea how my life has changed. God bless the mothers with three children or more because its a hard job. Everyday is a huge challenge for me, especially since I kinda spoiled my little lucy. She loves to be held! My art has been put on hold and I sure do miss it. I am just starting to get the itch to paint something. I set up a little art studio in our garage (new house), no more art room in the house. So maybe one day I can actually get a moment to myself and create. I am focusing on just getting my body back to normal along with everything else. Hope everyone is doing well, I still peek in at some of my favorite blogs and shops from time to time.

My New Favorite Blog

This Young House is such a wonderful blog I happened to stumble upon while looking up how to paint a table on the web. I am so glad I did! I not only got some great tips on how to paint my yucky black dining table, but I found so much information on tons more projects. Take their house tour and you will discover how much sweat they put into making their fixer upper home into a lovely, chic to die for home! These are my three favorite rooms they redid, but they also did the bedrooms, bathrooms, front porch, and back patio. We are talking a head to toe makeover. I only dream of being able to do what they have done. We want to own a home so bad, but have no idea where we are moving to right now. So hopefully one day soon we will be able to. You must also check out their handmade wedding they put together that was held in their beautiful backyard. It is amazing how frugal they were, and how beautiful it turned out.

Just My Style

Everyone knows that I have a love for midcentury modern design and mostly anything vintage, but I also love a little bit of shabby chic thrown in the mix sometimes. I love the feminine quality it brings to a room, and the lived in cozy feeling it portrays. I also think I love it because when I was a little girl I wished for a lacy, fluffy, pink, girly room, and I was never able to have that. I found a group of flickr photos from Tammy Manets "Home and Garden Inspiration" set in her photostream and I found some pictures that encompass just how much modern and shabby chic go together. All these rooms are beautiful and even though I love shabby chic, I don't like the "I am at my grandmas house" kinda shabby chic look, but just enough to get my point across. I guess what i mean is " a little shabby chic goes a long way". I still like to keep the whole look clean and simple.

Yardwork on Etsy

I got around to wanting to browse Etsy today and I came across the designs of Yardwork.The first two designs are handprinted, and the last two designs are digitally printed in N.C. , I just love them! I have always wanted to learn how to do this sometime, I wondered if it was a difficult process. Also, I wondered how many mistakes are made in the process because lord knows how much photo paper I go through trying to make one print right! I finally know all the work that goes into such a process. The artist has so kindly described, in detail, her work process, which is a rarity. After reading it, I have so much more respect for artists that handprint fabric because it sounds like a very long , difficult process that requires lots of supplies to come up with the end result. I will definitely stick to what I know for now, lol! I will stick to buying from talented artist that are experts at what they do. If you would like to read about the process, click here. By the way, I love the way the artist refers to the variations and irregularities of each fabric design as "happy accidents", what a great way to look at it!
