Playground Etiquette

Alright all you mommies and daddies out there, how many of you (and you can be honest) have taken your kids to the playground and wanted to punch someone elses kid?! In the last week, I have had the urge two times. I don't know if I am overprotective, but I just wonder if other parents give a damn about teaching their children common courtesy. Let me explain a little. My two little girls are extremely sheltered, one they are not in school yet, and two, we live far away from all our family. They pretty much live in a bubble and only play with a couple of neighbors on a regular basis. So, when they get put in a playground setting, they want to meet other kids and make new friends. The first incident, I may have overreacted when I saw a one year old girl pull my four year old daugters hair with both of her hands real hard and didn't want to let go. The look on my girls face just broke my heart, like "what do i do mom?" So, I yell at the little girl, "NO! let go of her hair now!! and i said, "we don't pull hair". She let go. She had some woman there watching her and three other kids, and the lady just asked who was pulling hair, and she doesn't even bother to apologize for the little girl. When my kids act up, I always make them apologize and I apologize to the parent as well for their behavior. O.k. , yesterday was another incident, which really blew my mind. My daughter saw some little girls playing and she wanted to join in, so she pops up in a tunnel and tells one of the little girls "i found you!" and I couldn't believe what the little girl said to Milla. She says, " Uugh, don't play with me, I don't know you!!" And my little Milla so nice tells her, "but, I am Milla, my name is Milla!" There I go, fantasizing about punching a little girl for being so nasty! I just told Milla to get away from her if she didn't want to play, to find someone else to play with.

I have come to the realization that my girls need to either become little meanies or they will get eaten alive at school when I am not able to watch them. Can't I just homeschool them I wonder sometimes? If I do, they will never be exposed to anything and never learn to stick up for themselves. I was lucky I guess, I have a twin, so she was always there to stick up for me and we always had each other, so we didn't have to really depend on making friends at school, although we had lots. She always watched over me, she was the tougher one! If anyone even tried to mess with me, there she was to my rescue, and I never had to ask her for help, she was just there every time.

Where Have I Gone??

I don't know. What I do know is that I am 11 weeks pregnant, getting my appetite back slowly along with my energy. We are so close to moving and we are just tying up loose ends before we do. Leaving the army is hard and the process is long, but its coming faster than we think. It's just a waiting game that I am tired of playing, where are we moving to, Texas hopefully, where will we live, don't know, and where will my husband work, who knows, lol! Yes this is my life, all up in the air and just waiting to see where it may land. I have not had one single ounce of creativity in a long time. I closed my etsy shop and I have put blogging on the back burner. I stay away from my computer all the time which is weird, but I have gotten use to it. Lots of things are changing and my art just doesn't fit in my life right now. I think I am just preparing myself for the third child I am going to have. How will I have time for anything else.

I can see two things happening with this blog, one, it will slowly disappear in the blogosphere, or it will become a more personal blog which documents my day to day survival with three children adjusting to a new house ( hopefully one we buy) and maybe some art thrown in the mix. The closest thing I have done related to art or design is made my first trip to Ikea!! When the doors opened, I think I heard angels singing! It was absolute heavean for me and my husband loved it just as much as I did. It was a busy Saturday and we had our girls with us (crazy right?), but we pulled through and made it to five hours of Ikea time! I couldn't believe we went that long, especially with all the melt downs my daughters took turns having. We really wanted a new living room set and a rug. We found two sofas that we liked, two side tables, a coffee table, a t.v. stand, two lamps, a rug, pillows, candles, and some accessories. They were shipped three days later to our home! It is a huge improvement compared to our sea of beige we had before. All we need to do now is put yellow caution tape around the living room so our girls can stay out! We actually transformed my art room into a cozy t.v. room for them, so they have been great about staying in there most of the time.

Yes, I know its very green and matchy-matchy, but we leave soon and we plan on changing curtains, adding pillows, new art, and redoing the chair in a different fabric. I just don't know what color of fabric I should use. Oh and most importantly, I will get to paint walls where we move for the first time!

My New Favorite Blog

This Young House is such a wonderful blog I happened to stumble upon while looking up how to paint a table on the web. I am so glad I did! I not only got some great tips on how to paint my yucky black dining table, but I found so much information on tons more projects. Take their house tour and you will discover how much sweat they put into making their fixer upper home into a lovely, chic to die for home! These are my three favorite rooms they redid, but they also did the bedrooms, bathrooms, front porch, and back patio. We are talking a head to toe makeover. I only dream of being able to do what they have done. We want to own a home so bad, but have no idea where we are moving to right now. So hopefully one day soon we will be able to. You must also check out their handmade wedding they put together that was held in their beautiful backyard. It is amazing how frugal they were, and how beautiful it turned out.
